| Lambert Orkis' musical interests encompass traditional and contemporary music performed on modern and period instruments. He has appeared in concert with cellist Mstislav Rostropovich and is fortepianist with the Castle Trio. With long-time recital partner violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, he performed over 80 Beethoven sonata-cycle programs in the world's foremost concert venues during 1998, culminating in a two-time Grammy-nominated Deutsche Grammophon CD release of the cycle, and a film of the Paris performances. His 1995 Berlin recital with Ms. Mutter (Deutsche Grammophon) and a Brahms/Schumann disc with cellist Anner Bylsma (Sony Classical) were both nominated for Grammy Awards for "Best Chamber Music Performance." Mr. Orkis and Anne-Sophie Mutter recently were awarded a Grammy for Chamber Music Performance for their recording, Beethoven: The Violin Sonatas (Deutsche Grammophon 457 619-2). |

In the spring of 2000, audiences will be able to hear him in concert throughout the United States and in Europe and Asia. Mr. Orkis has premiered solo works by George Crumb, Richard Wernick, Maurice Wright, and James Primosch. He continues his advocacy of living composers and is currently engaged in "KEYS TO THE FUTURE (from Hammers to Bytes)" a project for the new Millennium that includes new works for solo piano by Wernick and Primosch.
